At 1:45 AM Sunday morning, the fire department was alerted to a fire at the Governor's Mansion. The roof of the home collapsed, the house is thoroughly charred, and the second floor may not be structurally sound any longer. This is a great blow to all Texans, and the Mansion MUST be rebuilt no matter how much it costs. This is the time to be able to fully modernize the mansion, something like the Truman Renovation of the White House. Above are photos of the mansion pre-fire and post-fire.

The Heritage Society of Austin has announced that it has established a fund for donations to help restore the mansion. Contributions can be sent to the society at P.O. Box 2113, Austin TX 78768.
